These are great pictures and wonderful memories of Neil in his younger adult days. I remember his very robust "porkchop" sideburns from our early years together at Eaton. Were some of those pictures taken at your home in Walled Lake? You probably don't know that during Neil's first Eaton assignment in Southfield, he and I would sometimes meet in Walled Lake in the morning of a joint customer meeting. Must have been about 1973 or so because that's when I first met and started working with Neil. Walled Lake was a convenient meeting place because I grew up there. So sometimes, instead of making a day trip to visit customers, Connie and I would drive down the night before and stay with my in-laws. And with your home located there, it was convenient for both of us. Sometimes he would pick me up at my in-laws and other times I would pick him up at your house. I remember this as my earliest coincidental "connection" with Neil.
And I'm really happy to see the old 421 Pontiac in the picture of the two of you with the puppy. I remember it sitting in my garage in Battle Creek one night while I did some carburetor tuning and then going with Neil for the requisite test drive to confirm that the objective of the effort was met. That was a very unique car and I was almost as sad as Neil was when he told me that it met an early and fiery demise. That would have been a great stablemate with your "new" Lincoln, Dean!
I believe all of these pics are from Battle Creek. Very early though, maybe 1976 on the oldest ones. Had no idea you two knew each other in Walled Lake. He did love that 2+2. I remember his half-hearted attempt to sell it one time. One would not have confused him with a salesperson. The buyer would have had a better chance buying our dog.
